Analytes - phenol
phenol: CAS No. 108-95-2, C6H6O, molecular weight 94.11, boiling point 182°C, melting point 40.9°C density 1.07gm/mL, vapor pressure 0.35mm Hg at 25°C, flash point 79°C, autoignition temperature 715°C (refined), slightly water soluble is a white crystalline solid prepared synthetically by made by the oxidation of cumene, yielding acetone as a by-product or by oxidation of toluene. It is used as a general disinfectant, either in solution or mixed with slaked lime, etc., for toilets, stables, cesspools, floors, drains, etc.; an antiseptic, used in germicidal and slimicides; for the manufacture of colorless or light-colored artificial resins, many medical and industrial organic compounds and dyes and as a reagent in chemical analysis. It is most often measured in soil, water and air using GC/PID, ECD, ELCD and GC/MS methods specified by regulatory agencies like the U.S. EPA.
