EPA methods covers a broad range of test methods published by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to support monitoring of pollutants in air, water, soil and waste materials. Methods are developed and published by separate groups within the agency to meet specific legally mandated requirements of laws and regulations. Methods generally are published or listed in the Federal Register and made available in hard copy format, on CDs and on websites run by the EPA.
Use of these methods is sometimes required in order to meet both state and federal regulatory requirements.
The 500 and 600 series methods cover drinking and wastewater testing, while the 5000-9000 series cover hazardous and industrial waste. The air program has its own series of methods including Method 25.
